During the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2018; party members from AIMEP were given tickets for standing in elections from different constituencies in the state.

    Told them initially to spend their amount on election campaigns with the promise of getting it back after the elections. But unfortunately, it did not happen. One of the members, Heena Kouser, did file a complaint at the nearby police station; informing on the full debt she is in and has asked police to take action against Ms. Shaikh. She did make a statement that many of her colleagues are staying at the AIMEP office for almost a month.

    As the spokesperson of AIMEP, Siraj Ahmed Jafari; he claimed that these party workers were protesting in the name of blackmail and misguided; their potentialities by contesting in their respective constituency. The protestors were unruly and attacked the staff of the party and filed false complaints against them.
