  • Sacramento, CA (1888PressRelease) December 16, 2010 - More people throughout Northern California will have access to programs that empower people with developmental disabilities to live life without limits. UCP of Greater Sacramento has expanded its service area to eight counties: Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Shasta, Sutter and Yolo counties.

With the expansion, UCP has changed its name to UCP of Sacramento and Northern California.

"We have seen incredible results in the five counties we serve, and we're excited to bring our programs to new areas," said Doug Bergman, president and CEO, UCP of Sacramento and Northern California. "Everyone with a developmental disability, and their families, should have the opportunity to live life without limits. This expansion means fewer people will be isolated and more people will excel further than they ever thought was possible."

Each month, UCP of Sacramento and Northern California serves 2,600 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Programs include Saddle Pals therapeutic horseback riding, UCP's Autism Center for Excellence at Sacramento State, adult day programs, independent living services, transportation and in-home respite care for families.
