  • (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2011 - DENVER - Ubisense today introduced its military training solution, Location Driven Training (LDT). The Ubisense LDT real-time location system (RTLS) solves several challenges faced in Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) training, resulting in better, more cost-effective combat preparation. Ubisense is demonstrating its new LDT system this week at I/ITSEC 2011, the world's largest modeling, simulation and training conference, in booth #2362.

The Ubisense LDT system enables precise soldier tracking and data monitoring inside training buildings to improve Exercise Control (EXCON), and includes a fast, intuitive interface for significantly enhanced After Action Review (AAR).

EXCON benefits of the Ubisense LDT system include:
    • Precise, real-time soldier location for accurate weapon-effects simulation
    • Shoot-the-wall shot-paring when using an integrated weapon orientation sensor
    • Augmented reality view over video displays showing soldier ID and status
    • Integration with other data sources (e.g. MILES vest)

During the AAR process, LDT provides:
    • Exercise playback using simple video controls
    • Instant scrolling to key events to avoid long searches through large data sets
    • Automated video links to follow a single soldier through an entire exercise

LDT is fully operational at one of the Combined Arms Collective Training Facilities (CACTF) at Fort Bliss located in Texas. Fort Bliss has deployed the Ubisense LDT system to gain precise real-time tracking of personnel and assets, and management of spatial data to enhance the safety and quality of its military training. At Fort Bliss, Ubisense installed a sensor network throughout a training complex of 25 multi-story buildings to provide precision tracking in three-dimensions (3-D) throughout the buildings - in rooms, on roof tops and within stairwells.

"The deployment at Fort Bliss underscores the benefits our Location Driven Training system can provide in improving tactical awareness and execution in urban military combat," said Jay Cadman, vice president of sales, Ubisense. "Our LDT system brings MOUT training to its ideal state, allowing personnel to focus on training soldiers better rather than struggling with visibility issues and unmanageable after-action data sets."

By combining the General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) EXCON and AAR system with Ubisense's location system, Fort Bliss personnel can now track the exact location of all persons inside of buildings and improve the safety and efficiency of its training exercises. And, with Ubisense's 3-D capabilities, Fort Bliss personnel can simulate a variety of combat scenarios and record and playback all tracking data per individual or group.
