  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) November 09, 2011 - On December 2, 2011, a special "Stop Bullies FAST" seminar will take place at Elite Game Speed in Tampa for kids ages 6-12 who want to learn how not be picked on by bullies, how to deal with it if they are and how to resolve conflict peacefully without resorting to physical violence.

According to a recent study, 77% of students said they had been bullied mentally, verbally, and physically. 32% of parents fear for their child's physical safety at school and approximentally 282,000 students in America are physically attacked each month. In addition, the effects of bullying can be serious causing low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and in some cases drive a child to consider or even commit suicide.

FAST Defense founder and author Bill Kipp from Longmont, Colorado will be making a special teaching appearance in the Tampa area to teach this seminar along with local certified FAST Defense instructors Lt. Col. USMC Darren Poesel and former World Open Taekwondo Champion Kathy Marlor.

Ironically, all three long-time self-defense experts were bullied as kids. Bill Kipp, was brutally beaten by one of his brothers to the point of almost "going fetal" at the mere site of him. Lt. Col. Darren Poesel , a tall and skinny adolesent, was made fun off and was the brunt of many practical jokes in front of his peers. Fourth degree black belt Kathy Marlor was threatened in middle school, followed to each of her classes, and was threatened with physical violence in her neighborhood.

Now, all three self-defense instructors, two of them Marines, love helping kids and learn how to use assertiveness, conflict resolution skills and positive peer pressure to prevent, stop and overcome the effects bullying can have.

The Stop Bullies FAST Seminar is taking place in Tampa, Fl at Elite Game Speed on Friday night, December 2nd from 6:30PM-9:00PM.

Space is limited and registration is $49 per child or $39 per child when registered in advance by 11/25/2011.

For more information please contact either: Lt. Col. Darren Poesel at 813-909-5639 or Kathy Marlor at 727-504-0777.
