  • (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2011 - TAMPA, FL - PHANTOM, as many in theatrical circles are aware, has been released to the educational Fine Arts community in the USA. Several universities have contacted TheatreWorld looking for rentable high-end backdrops to support their planned productions of PHANTOM and have said they are very disappointed in the lack of "wow-factor" in what they have been able to locate through traditional sources.

TheatreWorld's initial set of backdrops in the new PHANTOM Suite will be available in March 2012 for rental, however, the company will be uploading the final production images to their web site (www.TheatreWorldBackdrops.com) in early January and begin accepting orders at that time. The initial series will include: The Phantom's Grotto, The Paris Opera House Grand Lobby and Staircase, The Paris Opera House Roof, Christine's Cemetery and Hannibal scenes.

The PHANTOM backdrop series will be available initially in high-resolution digital backdrops only, sized in 40' by 18'.
Currently, TheatreWorld plans to offer a more limited PHANTOM series in 40' by 18' hand painted on muslin by mid-summer, followed by a limited series in 25' by 15' (both digital and hand painted) in late-summer to service high schools, community colleges, and smaller educational facilities in a more budget-friendly fashion.

TheatreWorld expects the PHANTOM backdrop series to be very popular, but has no statistical data at this juncture to support or suggest the inventories it should carry to meet customer demand. Therefore, TheatreWorld strongly recommends producers and directors schedule as early as possible to insure availability for their productions.

For the first time ever, TheatreWorld will periodically post "development lifecycle" images in various stages of backdrop creation, spanning the five original Phantom backdrops (beginning with *Phantom's Grotto - stage 2), to its Blog at www.TheatreWorldBackdrops.com. This will give customers and prospective customers a sneak preview of new products and a "Behind-the-Scenes" look at the theatrical backdrop development process.

Directors and producers can have their voices heard. TheatreWorld Backdrops invites interested industry professionals to provide input, suggestions, and make comments on these soon-to-be-released backdrop products during the development cycle.

Additionally, TheatreWorld's artistic teams will be evaluating your comments and suggestions and use them as input. Shortly after the release of the initial five, TheatreWorld will commission several additional original images for its PHANTOM series in order complete each scene required of the production. Further, TheatreWorld will make alternatives to these seven drops available (i.e., colorization, suggestions on artistic details, etc., as provided by its customers). Over time, TWB anticipates a PHANTOM OF THE OPERA suite that includes over 30 unique backdrops.

Please visit TWB's Blog to have your ideas heard and comments considered. Anyone whose suggestion is used now or in the future will receive an email from TheatreWorld's creative director thanking them for their input along with a Special Discount on their next TheatreWorld backdrop rental, purchase, or custom-design project. Please insure you provide your email/contact information with your suggestions.

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA backdrops may be rented individually (2-week minimum) or as a complete package with variable package pricing, depending on length of rental and quantity of backdrops rented. Finally, TheatreWorld has also commissioned new original designs for the Broadway musicals HAIRSPRAY, THE PRODUCERS and LES MISÉRABLES and expects initial suite availability in early spring 2012. It has not committed to provide sneak previews of those backdrops at this point for competitive reasons, but left the possibility open.
