The third edition of the Romanian Film Festival in Washington ended with a record number of spectators, films and guests

  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) June 23, 2022 - Almost 3,000 viewers participated in the third edition of the Romanian Film Festival DC, entitled "Reinventing Realism - New Cinema from Romania", a festival that has become the largest event to promote national cinema in North America. This year, the festival was dedicated to celebrating 25 years since the launch of The Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States, an important landmark of bilateral relations between the two countries.

    Organized by the Romanian Embassy in Washington and the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, in partnership with the historic Miracle Theater, the oldest in operation in the American capital and with the generous support of Banca Transilvania, the Romanian Film Festival (RFF 2022) took place between 3-19 June 2022, during the first three weekends in June, and benefited from the presence of 13 guests from Romania who answered questions from the audience after projections.

    The 12 films presented at the festival are among the most awarded and appreciated film productions of the last two years: "Blue Moon", directed by Alina Grigore; "Berliner", directed Marian Crișan; "The Wind Seeker", directed by Mihai Sofronea; "Poppy Field," directed by Eugen Jebeleanu; "Morocco", directed by Emanuel Pârvu; "Unidentified", directed by Bogdan George Apetri; "#Dogpoopgirl", directed by Andrei Huțuleac; "Luca", directed by Horațiu Mălăele; "Man and Dog", directed by Stefan Constantinescu; "Lebensdorf", directed by Valentin Hotea; "Otto the Barbarian", directed by Ruxandra Ghițescu, and "The Miracle", directed by Bogdan George Apetri.

    The guests of the third edition of the Festival were: film critic Mihai Fulger, curator of RFF 2022; directors: Alina Grigore, Ruxandra Ghițescu; directors: Marian Crișan, Mihai Sofronea, Bogdan George Apetri, Andrei Huțuleac, Horațiu Mălăele; actresses: Andreea Grămoșteanu, Ioana Flora, Ioana Bugarin and the actors: Bogdan Farcaș and Bogdan Mălăele.
