  • Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2011 - The So Cal Group, Inc., a marketing firm based out of Orange, California, recently fed the homeless on Skid Row for the second year in a row. This area is located in Downtown Los Angeles and contains one of the largest populations of homeless people in the country. The So Cal Group provided a meal to a few hundred people who would not otherwise have a meal to eat.

The So Cal Group had the goal making a bigger impact than they did last year by doubling their donations and involving more team members, friends, and family in 2011.

"When learning or teaching entrepreneurship, it is important to incorporate service and giving back into our business curriculum," said manager Tedford Picha. "Becoming successful is important, but what you do with your success is everything."

The night before delivering the lunches, the team at The So Cal Group met at their office to prepare all the lunches. Tasks were assigned, assembly lines were formed, and the team prepared four hundred and fifty lunches to be passed out the next day.

The following morning, the team met near Skid Row and split into small groups. Specializing in face-to-face sales, the team at The So Cal Group spend their days meeting and greeting people. They took these skills and did what they do best; they hit the streets and began passing out lunches. They were met with gratitude and appreciation from people who don't often encounter people who care.

"As a newer company, it's important that we stay in touch and give back to the community," said manager Eric Lee. "Staying connected as we grow teaches us to be thoughtful of those who do not have the same opportunities that we do."
