  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) June 03, 2011 - The Resting Place and its two companion pieces Autumn Sweet and Angel of Aachen make up Catalano's three play collection Long Island Trilogy. The common factor in all three works is that they take place in Long Island, New York. Autumn Sweet, in 1960's Huntington, The Angel of Aachen in 1950's, Northport and finally the Resting Place in our own time period in the town of Franklin Square. The play's story is both tragedy and comedy. Joey Fanellii, a successful Beverly Hills real estate agent is on the brink of committing suicide. His once prosperous and happy life is falling a part. His wife Calcutta is cheating on him, his oversized house is in foreclosure and he's about to be forced out of his job. He's about to end it all when he gets a phone call that his widowed mother, whom he hasn't spoken to in thirteen years, is in the hospital with a stroke. He has no choice but to go back home to Franklin Square, Long Island and see her. A journey that will change his life forever.

    The Resting Place follows Catalano's successful books Art of the Monologue published in 2007. The Creative Audience (2009) and White Knight Black Night - Short Monologues for Auditions (2010). His theatre books have been called a "great studies for would be actors or comedians of any type" by Midwest Book Review.

    Mr. Catalano's plays have been produced in New York City, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Hawaii and Dayton, Ohio including The American Rose Garden, Cyclotron (La Mama, N.Y.C.), Evolution, Waiting For to Go (Kennedy Center, Hawaii), and Saturday Nights. His play Autumn Sweet was a finalist at the Dayton Playhouse and later optioned for film by Warner Bros. Studios. The Resting Place has had a staged reading by the Echo Theatre Company as part of a grant from the Showtime Network and his play Myths and Tangos toured in Los Angeles.
    As an executive, Catalano has served in various capacities at Lorimar Studios, Beverly Hills Playhouse, and Southern California Center for the Arts and Warner Bros. where he had a "first look" writing deal for the development of television and motion picture properties. He has also written and performed in animated television series and feature films including DIGIMON DIGITAL MONSTERS, THE ADVENTURES OF DYNAMO DUCK for Fox TV, the Sci-Fi series ROBOTECH and ABC television series including LA LAW, NYPD BLUE, MURDER ONE, CIVIL WARS and UGLY BETTY. His new book BECOMING RAND - THE CONFESSIONS OF A ROBOTECH WARRIOR will be available later this year.

    Catalano conducts seminars on acting and writing nationwide and has been a featured speaker at the Annual Writer's Conference and Annual Stage, Screen and Television Actor's Conference sponsored by San Diego State University.
