  • (1888PressRelease) March 27, 2011 - Arden Hills, Minnesota - What a mainstream beauty pageant may appear to be all about in our world is 'glamour'. The pageant, we tend to see on television gives us the feeling of young girls seeking fame and fortune. They are all about poise, charisma, grace and confidence. This type of pageant is typically held to recognize unique talent and beauty. Everyone knows about these pageants. However, there are very few who know about pageants held for 'girls with special needs and challenges'. Such pageants do exist. Rarely do we see this type of pageant as it is not the typical Pageant that we see on T.V. 'The Pageant of Hope' for girls with special needs and challenges deserves a mention. Its grand finale is slated to be held on March 26, 2011, at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center, MN . What is unique about this pageant is that all the girls are winners! All of the Princess' will be honored with a technology and mobility based scholarship. This is a surprise this year at the pageant after they ALL are crowned and given sashes.

Yet another factor that distinguishes The Pageant of Hope from the rest is the 'Hope Scholarships'. Girls will be awarded with the scholarships, to help them in the mainstream of life. We want all the girls to feel important and help them achieve their goals in life. The idea is to build their self esteem and confidence. It is to bring out the best in all the girls in the program. All the girls would be treated to a formal event and matched up with a 'hope buddy'. The hope buddy will take them to professionals to do up their hair and makeup. Girls with special needs belonging to the age group of 5 to 25 are made to undertake a program to bolster their confidence and self esteem. They are taught to engage in skillful conversations in school and at home. The idea is to instill positive values in them and develop self-belief of course.

Hanna Lynn Maslowski (14), a young adopted philanthropist, is the inspiration behind The Pageant of Hope. Born with cerebral palsy, Hanna is a winner in the true sense of the word. She decided to face problems head-on! Her 'you can do it' attitude has touched the lives of many. She decided to put up a program for special girls like her. Thus, The Pageant of Hope came into being. The self-esteem building program inspires girls with special needs and challenges to overcome obstacles in their lives. They are geared to face the daily grind with aplomb and tact. They are motivated to achieve their personal and professional goals. The pageant is a victory for everyone involved - girls, their parents and sponsors too.

It will be held at the Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive, Brooklyn Center Minnesota. There are 40 girls participating in the event with over 120 volunteers. Log on to http://www.pageantofhope.com/ to know more about it.
