  • (1888PressRelease) May 27, 2011 - ResearchWritingCenter's last essay contest was so stunningly successful that we have launched another one, going on right now! Contest winners will receive cash prizes and gain fame and fortune among other freelance writers. We love the chance to see our writers at their personal best.

The previous competition struck a rich vein of creativity and rivalry, if the number of submissions and the discussion on the message board are any measure. The enthusiastic response was both surprising and gratifying.

We worried briefly that for some writers this would seem like a busman's holiday. Would it seem like more of the same without getting paid directly, we wondered. There were even a few cranky comments on the message board. However, once the contest started in earnest, we were slightly overwhelmed! The website was even somewhat slowed temporarily as many writers got their submissions in at the last minute. (We hope that entrants this time will get their essays in ahead of the absolute last minute.)

Additionally, the contest entries were inspiring, and contestants shared good ideas in abundance concerning the pursuit of freelancing. We got many very personal and heartfelt, even funny, insights on what it takes to be a successful freelance writer.

There were prizes given at every level. Even for those who only received an Honourable Mention it was rather a big deal. One Honourable Mention winner, who has been writing for RWC for a relatively brief time, shared how much this acknowledgement meant to her.

"Who can I discuss my work achievements with on a day-to-day basis? I have to be so careful because of confidentiality requirements. Additionally, many people simply don't understand what we do. They don't realize the importance of custom writing and academic support as a service to students and business people. For me, this was an affirmation that my skills are appreciated."

Management at ResearchWritingCenter wanted to modify the topic and the format a bit for this new contest. The current competition, for example, will offer higher rewards. The subjects that entrants will be writing on this time are a bit more specific. The new topics could require some substantive research and experience to write about competently, and thus we expect experienced writers to potentially have a bit of an edge. Contestants may write on the following:

    • "Useful Software for Freelance Writers"
    • "Time Management Tools for Freelance Writers"
    • "Useful Web Resources for Freelance Writers"

These were chosen as being most useful to all our writers. Shared, constructive ideas on these topics can, to be very blunt, help our productivity overall.

Winners can look forward to receiving prizes as follows:
    Grand Prize $200
    2nd Prize $125
    3rd Prize $100
    4th Prize $ 75
    5th Prize $ 50

Perhaps even more appealing, winners at all levels that are not already on the ResearchWritingCenter roster will be immediately registered with no additional testing or screening. Winners will also have the chance to see their essay published online. Additionally, we will invite some of our winners to be guest bloggers. Our website blog is available to all internet users, both writers and visitors. Thus, blogging on our website is a great advertisement for the winners' skills, and a launch pad for a freelance career.

Finally, this is a chance for our writers to connect with one another, and to show off their work to their friends, family, and potential customers. Voting by such folks will be a major part of our choice of winners. Information on the contest is already posted on our Facebook page. This means that the opportunity for winners to garner even more visibility as freelance stars, because of course ResearchWritingCenter's page on Facebook is accessible to everyone around the globe.
