The Moscow School Students, the Winners of the SIFI Contest for the Biggest Crunch, Started Their «Journey to Health»
On May 20, the Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute (SIFI) held the learning game of the «Journey to Health» project for the Moscow students of the Dostoevsky school #1148.
- (1888PressRelease) May 29, 2013 - The school #1148 organized the largest in Russia «crunch» with healthy fruits and vegetables. Event took place as a part of the International school food day and «The Great Big Crunch» educational project. More than a hundred students of that school took part in creative activities on the topic of healthy eating: children wrote poetry, created wall newspapers, drew pictures and made wonderful photos.
The birthplace of The Great Big Crunch is Canada, where natural conditions are very similar to the natural conditions of Russia, and where adults and children are faced with the problems of unhealthy eating and poor food production. This year the event was held for the sixth time, and it was attended by more than 65,000 children and adults from Canada, Australia, Brazil and Russia. The Russian organizer of the event was SIFI (http://orgpit.ru/).
As a prize, SIFI held in school the learning game «Journey to Health» (http://schoolfoodforum.ru/static/puteshestvie-k-zdorovyu/). During the game children built their own healthy food pyramid, cooked a giant fish soup, dealt with fast food and learned the secrets of feeding all the people and keeping the planet clean.

Lihoperskaya, the teacher of the School #1148. - Our pupils started to eat more fruits, especially apples, began to eat porridge. Thank you! And we, in our turn, will continue to promote a healthy lifestyle, our school will be happy to develop this direction, and we will be happy to cooperate and participate in the SIFI contests.»
This year The Great Big Crunch involved schools in other regions, too. It is worth to mention children from Saransk who spent the holiday in traditional costumes, as well as children from Novosibirsk, who competed in many original sports relay races.
