  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) December 29, 2010 - The Triangle's innovative leader in branding, creative services, strategic positioning and marketing fulfillment, the Marketing Machine, has earned a major award for its work and added another seasoned professional to its staff.

Kristi Strange, a 17-year advertising industry professional, has recently been hired as "Hall Monitor" while the eclectic firm is still bathing in the glow of its brand-new PICA award for direct marketing collateral.

"My official duties are mainly that of a traffic manager," Strange said of her quirky unofficial title. In reality, she will be scheduling all work for the creative staff and helping with workflow, in addition to production manager duties, as well as proofreading and editing.

Strange's production background prior to joining The Marketing Machine includes serving as Director of Production & Operations at an Asheville advertising agency and holding production manager and traffic manager positions at agencies in Carrboro and Lynchburg, Virginia. Her areas of expertise include traffic and production management, operations management, editing, proofreading and event coordination. She holds a BA in Communication Studies from Lynchburg (Va.) College.

"This is the first time we've had somebody in this position," said Paul Spinak, company president. According to Spinak, The Marketing Machine's consistent growth in clients and workload made such a position an essential part of the core team, especially with regard to an increasing demand for design services.

"Our design business is booming," Spinak said, adding, "Businesses are realizing that everything they do in sales and marketing starts with solid design. While many aspects of marketing and advertising have become commodities, creative can't be boxed-up."

The firm's design expertise is the reason for the recent award from the Printing Industry of the Carolinas, Inc. (PICA), centered on a multi-dimensional direct marketing package. A well-known trade association representing the graphic communications industry in North and South Carolina, PICA has been serving the print industry for over 75 years.

Since 1966, the PICA Awards have been the premier symbol of excellence for the graphics industry in the Carolinas. The Marketing Machine will receive yet another award at a PICA ceremony scheduled for April 2011 in Concord, N.C.

The Marketing Machine has been making long-term investments in staffing, software, hardware, and facility upgrades in recent years, as well as adding a print services division -- Second Gear Printing & Promotions -- to provide short-run digital printing, long-run offset printing, customized promotional and apparel products, signage, and trade show display services.

Additionally, the firm has recently launched a new website, www.theMmachine.com, where visitors can view an interactive portfolio of graphic design projects, direct mail and email marketing pieces, and multi-channel advertising campaigns.
