  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2011 - Philadelphia trial attorney Rhonda Hill Wilson of the Law Offices of Rhonda Hill Wilson, P.C. has been named a Diverse Attorney of the Year by The Legal Intelligencer. The award recognizes Hill Wilson as one of the top minority attorneys practicing in Pennsylvania. Hill Wilson, with 19 other Diverse Attorney of the Year recipients, will be honored at a June 7, 2011 luncheon to be held at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. The Legal Intelligencer recognizes Diverse Attorneys of the Year on a biennial basis, selecting recipients based upon their outstanding professional achievements as well as recommendations from bar associations, law firms, public interest groups, corporations and governmental offices. Profiles of the award recipients were included in the paper's Diversity Supplement published on April 5, 2011.

    "I am proud to serve as an advocate for injured individuals and their families, many of whom cannot stand up for themselves to pursue justice," said Hill Wilson. "As one of the few African-American female plaintiff trial lawyers practicing in Pennsylvania, it is particularly gratifying to have my efforts recognized by The Legal Intelligencer."

    An attorney for more than three decades, Hill Wilson founded her Center City Philadelphia law firm in 1994. She focuses her practice on nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents and premises liability matters. She recently secured a multi-million-dollar medical malpractice settlement for a woman who was left in a vegetative state following a Caesarean section. Reflecting her devotion to her clients, Hill Wilson is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious group of trial attorneys for which less than one percent of U.S. attorneys qualify.

    A leader within her profession and community, Hill Wilson currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Executive Committee and the Governing Board of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. She also chairs the United Negro College Fund's Philadelphia-area "A Mind Is" Annual Giving Society, and in this role teaches young, inner-city women life skills and goal setting strategies. Hill Wilson is a past president of the National Bar Association's Women's Law Division-Philadelphia, has served on the AAJ Board of Governors and is a former member of the AAJ National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees.

    In 2008 and 2009, Hill Wilson received the AAJ Distinguished Service Award. Also in 2008, The Network Journal named Hill Wilson one of the Top Black Lawyers in the Tri-State Area, Main Line Today recognized her as a Woman on the Move and the National Bar Association honored her with its Presidential Award. Hill Wilson is listed in Who's Who in American Law and was the 1999 recipient of the National Political Congress of Black Women Philadelphia Chapter's Chisholm Award.

    The first woman in her family to earn an advanced degree, Hill Wilson graduated from C.W. Post College of Long Island University cum laude in 1976. She earned her law degree from the Washington College of Law, The American University in 1979.
