  • (1888PressRelease) July 15, 2010 - Raleigh, NC - The Healing Place of Wake County is a non-profit recovery and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with alcohol and drug dependency, located in Raleigh, NC. The mission of The Healing Place is to offer innovative recovery and rehabilitation to homeless alcoholic and chemically dependent men and women through a continuing mutual-help program. Now, The Healing Place will be helping its own independence by using renewable, "green" technology.

The Healing Place of Wake County has announced that it has selected Holocene, LLC, a cutting-edge renewable energy development company, to provide solar thermal domestic hot water for The Healing Place of Wake County. The system will allow The Healing Place to realize immediate and long term savings due to a reduction in the consumption of natural gas.

Holocene will install solar panels at The Healing Place's Goode Road facility in Western Wake County. The system will result in a CO2 offset of 29 tons every year starting at the first year of operation.

"The savings and the environmental impact that will result from this new system are significant," said Eric Larsen, COO of Holocene. "The Healing Place of Wake County will not only be doing its part to reduce its carbon footprint, but it will also now be able to use the money saved to fund its programs."

"Here at The Healing Place we are always seeking out ways to be better corporate citizens," said Dennis Parnell, CEO of The Healing Place. "We must be careful stewards of all of the funds we receive. The Holocene system will not only allow us to save money, but will also allow us to be more self-sufficient and environmentally responsible."

The system will be installed at The Healing Place over the next few months, according to Charles McClure, Director of Sales for Holocene.

"We have already begun preliminary preparation for installation, and we expect to get The Healing Place on line with their system quickly," said McClure.
