  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2013 - With a customer base that primarily consists of women, Ron Bandyk, owner of the Grout Medic of West/Southwest Chicagoland, knew he wanted to do something in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. After discussing ways franchisees could "give back" to their communities at the Grout Medic Annual Meeting last summer, Bandyk presented the idea for a companywide fundraising campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Bandyk knows well the importance of research in finding a cure for breast cancer as his sister-in-law was diagnosed with the disease.

For every job booked in October, participating Grout Medic franchises will contribute $5 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF). BCRF remains one of the most fiscally responsible charities in the country, having earned 4 stars from Charity Navigator (out of four stars) for the eleventh time since 2002. Currently, $0.91 of every dollar spent by BCRF is directed toward breast cancer research and awareness programs.

For the month of October, Bandyk and his Grout Medic team will also be wearing special pink shirts to further highlight their efforts and aid in raising awareness. "This is an important issue that impacts so many," says Bandyk. "Almost everyone knows of a family member, friend, or coworker who has been touched by this disease. Over the past several years, efforts to raise awareness have been gaining steam and statistics show that survival rates are improving. These improvements are believed to be the result of earlier detection through screening and increased awareness, as well as improved treatment resulting from additional research. We hope to, in some small way, further this effort."

The Grout Medic of West/Southwest Chicagoland is taking fundraising a step further by offering customers the option of taking a 5 percent discount off the cost of each job booked. The Grout Medic will match that 5 percent with an additional contribution of 5 percent to the BCRF (maximum of $50). This offer from the Grout Medic of West/Southwest Chicagoland is good from now through the end of October.

The Grout Medic of West/Southwest Chicagoland has been servicing the area for more than 17 years and is a leader in the tile, grout, and natural stone restoration market.
