  • Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2011 - The Chris Canty Foundation is proud to announce the sponsors for The Champions Gala, the foundation's inaugural black-tie fundraiser and The Chris Canty Camp of Champions, a free youth football camp. The football camp will run from Wednesday June 15 through Friday June 17 on the campus of Charlotte Latin School. The gala, which will occur on the evening of June 17, 2011 at the beautiful Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge in South Charlotte, will honor civic leaders and organizations doing great works with our youth in our community. This will be the culminating event for the foundation's weeklong activities. Chris Canty of the New York Giants, who is the founder of the Chris Canty Foundation and recently named 2011 New York United Way Man of the Year, has invited more than 25 current and former NFL players who will lend their support at both the camp and the gala.

    The city of Charlotte has truly shown its support of the Chris Canty Foundation. Wells Fargo is the title sponsor of The Champions Gala. The keynote speaker will be ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, and this year's honorees include Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe and Bishop George Edward Battle Jr. of the historic A.M.E. Zion Church. The foundation will also recognize several programs and organizations that share the same passion and commitment to positively impact the lives of youth including Johnson C. Smith University, the Police Activities League and United Way of Central Carolinas.
