Marquis, CEC, CCE, PCEC, CCA, AAC, as the 2012 commencement speaker. A military master chef, Marquis will provide the commencement address to the 48 graduates of the December 2011 and March 2012 classes on Saturday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the University of Indianapolis' Ransburg Auditorium, located in Esch Hall at 1400 East Hanna Ave. in Indianapolis. One of the highest certified chefs in the U.S. military, Marquis will address graduates on the topic of "What is in your future? You will never know!"

    A native of Lewiston, Maine, Marquis graduated with an associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., serving in various hospitality industry positions before joining the U.S. Army in 1994. His military career has led him to locales in Florida, Hawaii, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Marquis is a two-time winner of Virginia's Iron Chef Challenge, and a winner of the Freedom Chef Challenge. He also triumphed over Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai in an Iron Chef competition in Osaka, Japan. A member of both the American Academy of Chefs and the American Culinary Federation, Marquis is currently an enlisted aide for U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.
