  • (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2012 - The workshops were held by world famous specialist practitioners. It was a wonderful experience for the students to gain extended intensive curriculum support with such world famous practitioners such as Mark Hill, Tom Wood, Elaine Wood and Jim Yarnell.

The IB Theatre Department welcomed physical theatre practitioner Mark Hill. Mark has worked internationally as a physical theatre specialist for over 10 years and he brought with him a wealth of invaluable experience. During the two days he worked with both Year 12 and 13 IB students, taking them through the practice of Butoh Japanese theatre and the world of Suzuki Tadashi and his principles of movement. The students really came together as an ensemble group, building on their strengths and opening up a new avenue for their practical work. It was a fantastic experience for all involved and really enhanced their IB journey.

The IB Art Department welcomed Tom and Elaine Wood from the UK. Tom is an acclaimed portrait painter in the UK and has been a part of the earlier Round Square Peace Conference. During the two days, Tom worked with understanding the sketchbooks as a truly creative journal, towards abstraction and layering in art and portrait painting with blocks of colour. Tom also introduced the students to Pinterest and e- portfolios, which is of special interest due to the changes in the IB art assessment method. Tom held two workshops with primary students of Year 6 and they learnt about the proportions of features in a face and the fine art of mixing colours to make different skin tones in order to show the light and shade effect.

The IB Music Department welcomed Jim Yarnell who is the Head of the Music Department at the American School of the Hague. This is also Jim's second time as an IB resource person at the school. He has also initiated a CAS project in New Delhi with students from the Hague and ours working together at Pratham and Deepalaya.
