  • (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2012 - Students of 55 nationalities walked to support the girl child. 400 students and their teachers gathered at the football field for the round square led "Walkathon 2012". This initiative was organised by the Round Square Core group of the school to support four NGO's. The students work with Deepalaya, Snehalaya, CanKids and India Vision Foundation for the upliftment of the girl child. The excitement was palpable when the charismatic Olympian shooter, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, arrived to flag off the walk, escorted by the Director of The British School, Dr Nick Argent. His words touched a chord as he talked about the responsibilities that young people need to shoulder in order to make a better tomorrow for the less privileged.

Students and teachers walked together with great purpose and their effort was reflected in the large number of laps which were completed. Interestingly, the highest number of 43 laps was completed by three girls from the youngest class, closely followed by another student with a count of 42 laps. We would like to thank everyone for their generous sponsorships towards helping the mentioned NGOs.

Ms. Anjali Singh, Chairperson of the Board of Governors said, "I am privileged and felt honoured to have participated in the Walkathon to support the girl child. In my opinion it is our moral duty to support those less privileged than us and what better way to bring the whole school community together than a sponsored walk! The staff and students alike were fantastic, energetic and exuded enthusiasm. I would like to thank our chief guest, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, for triggering off the event and to Virat Kohli, Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh for sending their words of encouragement. Last but not the least I would like to congratulate the Round Square Core Group for making this event possible."
