  • York-Hanover, PA (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2011 - The Bra Recyclers, a textile recycling company based in Gilbert, Arizona, has joined forces with Bell Socialization Services, Inc. to help provide encouragement for homeless women through recycled bras. The partnership will offer women in transition the opportunity to receive gently used recycled bras, while empowering and improving quality of life for homeless women served by Bell Socialization Services, Inc.

Bell Socialization Services is eager to receive recycled bras from The Bra Recyclers. Touching on the local need in York, Pennsylvania, Director of Community Relations & Development Averie Clark stated, "Providing bras to the women who use our services will boost confidence and self esteem, and illustrate the importance of starting with a firm foundation". Bell Socialization Services will receive bras on an on-going basis from The Bra Recyclers.

For The Bra Recyclers CEO, Elaine Birks-Mitchell, the BRAvolution is about bringing the benefits of bra recycling to as many communities globally as possible. Recycling bras versus throwing them in the trash provides a number of benefits. Used bras can be redistributed to women in need, as well as recycled into secondary materials. For women in need, the gift of a clean, properly fitting bra is monumental. Birks-Mitchell states, "For some women, having a clean and properly fitted bra to wear is not at the top of the list due to other priorities, such as food, shelter, and safety. We want to do our part to help the homeless women served at Bell Socialization Services, Inc. providing a simple encouragement that will lift her spirit and boost her self esteem."

For 2011, The Bra Recyclers have exceeded their goal of expanding their support to 35 shelters. The Bra Recyclers are also planning Bra Recycling Month 2011 and have a goal of 10,000 recycled bras in October.
