  • Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) September 11, 2012 - October 1st The Bra Recyclers will kick off the Third Annual Bra Recycling Month. The month long bra recycling event ties directly to Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which also kick off in October. Bra Recycling Month aims to bring attention and awareness to these causes, while offering women a unique opportunity to support breast cancer and domestic violence awareness through the recycling of gently used and new bras.

As part of the month long recycling campaign, The Bra Recyclers have partnered with several like-minded companies to provide weekly prize giveaways to anyone who takes part in 'reshaping a life' during the month of October. This year's partnerships are the most exciting to date, including Affinitas, JGS Travel, Soma Intimates, Leading Lady and Bodacious Boutique.

Anyone who recycles bras in October will be entered into a drawing to win one of several great prizes, including:
    - One of ten bra and panty sets from Affinitas
    - One of three $25 restaurant.com gift cards from JGS Travel
    - One of four $25 gift cards from Soma Intimates
    - One of four $50 off coupons for new bras at Leading Lady
    - A $50 gift certificate from Bodacious Boutique
    - And More!

Additionally, Leading Lady is offering women 15% off their purchases during Bra Recycling Month in October.

In addition to supporting breast cancer awareness and domestic violence awareness, Bra Recycling Month also brings awareness to the importance of sustainability and delaying the amount of re-usable textile waste ending up in landfills. "As a board member of the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles (SMART) it is one of our primary goals to continue to educate the consumer on the impacts and benefits of recycling textiles. Most people would not think that something as simple as a bra could impact the lives of women with breast cancer or victims of domestic violence," said The Bra Recyclers CEO, Elaine Birks-Mitchell.

During Bra Recycling Month 2011, over 11,000 bras were recycled from women across the country. This year, The Bra Recyclers believe women will recycle more bras than ever. "We are looking to shatter last year's recycling numbers. This year we believe we can recycle 15,000 bras," said Birks-Mitchell. "This year making our goal means even more, because we will be making a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Southern Arizona, for every pound of bras collected during the month of October. " "We know we can reach our goal, because this is a simple and 'green' way for anyone to support Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness."
