  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) September 20, 2012 - Babson leads the top 5 schools, followed by Indiana University (Kelley), University of Pennsylvania (Wharton), University of Southern California (Marshall), and MIT (Sloan).
"This year's survey ranking confirms our continued undisputed leadership in entrepreneurship as we extend this leadership to Entrepreneurship of All Kinds® in the broadest array of settings," said Babson President Len Schlesinger.

The College also moved up to #24 (from #28 last year) among the nation's top business schools. "Babson's position on this list, dominated by large national universities, is further evidence of our leadership position in business education. It is especially impressive to be so highly regarded given that the other public and private universities on the top 25 list are much larger, older, and have bigger budgets," said Schlesinger.

"I want to congratulate the entire team of faculty and staff who are involved in delivering the education and creating the environment inside and outside the classroom that receives this level of acclaim. Going forward, we will extend our accomplishments, building on our already strong undergraduate program and expanding our work in Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® and Entrepreneurship of All Kinds® to help prepare the next generation of leaders who create great economic and social value…everywhere," he said.

    How U.S. News ranks colleges
For our undergraduate business school rankings, U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty at each undergraduate business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Business school deans and faculty (two at each AACSB-accredited business program) were surveyed in spring 2012 for this ranking. Participants were asked to rate the quality of all programs they were familiar with on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The undergraduate business school and business specialty rankings are based solely on the results of this peer survey; 40 percent of those surveyed responded.

We also asked those same respondents for nominations of the 10 best programs in business specialty areas; those receiving the most mentions in each area appear on the site ranked in descending order. The rankings of the best undergraduate business programs in a specialty area also are based solely on that same peer survey in spring 2012. Schools offering any courses in a specialty are eligible to be ranked in that specialty. Schools did not need to have a listed program or major in a specialty area in order to be ranked in that specific specialty area. The peer assessment surveys were conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs.
