  • (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2018 - CHICAGO - Solstice has been recognized on the Companies That Care 2018 “Honor Roll.” This is Solstice’s first time on the list.

The “Honor Roll” recognizes employers for outstanding workplace practices and active community involvement. This includes philanthropic efforts, as well as training and developing employees — giving back to the community and to workforce development.

“Reinvesting in the local communities and reinvesting in our people have been, and will continue to be, our top priorities at Solstice,” said Kelly Manthey, CEO of Solstice. “We’re excited to be recognized for those two initiatives, and have no doubt that both play into the effective team we have today.”

Solstice has a range of opportunities for employees to give back to the community including Pay it FWD, an annual event where Solstice employees break out into groups and spend the day volunteering at a local charity. Also, for the last several years, Solstice has been the lead sponsor of Chicago Dance Marathon in support of Lurie Children’s Hospital, with a group of 40+ Solstice employees attending the dance marathon.

When it comes to training and development, Solstice grants employees a $5,000 budget annually to use towards training and development. It also has various internal initiatives to help employees stay ahead of innovative technologies, including Solstice Labs, an internal R&D function where employees can build and test emerging technologies, Solstice U, a training program led by employees educating other staff, and Express Days, a 24-hour hackathon it hosts at its offices annually to keep both its culture and R&D thriving.

Companies named to the “Honor Roll” excel in the 10 characteristics inherent to a “Company That Cares,” which include: developing great leaders, cultivating the full potential of employees, making employees feel their jobs are important, creating a work environment focused on dignity and respect, supporting the pursuit of work/life balance, appreciating and recognizing contributions of employees, maintaining ethical behavior, providing competitive compensation and benefits, considering the human toll behind every business decision, and volunteering in the community.
