  • (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2026 - YANGZHOU, China - SOLARTODO LIMITED, a Yangzhou-based supplier of solar, energy storage and intelligent infrastructure, has introduced a 12-metre campus and park configuration of SKYHUB, its solar-powered edge node for physical AI operations. Built as a pure smart pole with no lighting hardware, the configuration is aimed at universities, business parks, public parks and mixed pedestrian districts that need round-the-clock awareness along paths, plazas and fence lines without extending power and fibre to every location. The 12-metre height was chosen as a middle ground. It gives cameras and aerial launches a wider line of sight than typical 6- or 8-metre utility poles, while remaining far simpler to found and erect than a telecom tower. Each pole can host a drone dock with an automated battery hot-swap magazine, a PTZ day/night camera, a nine-parameter station tracking air quality, noise, wind and weather, a Jetson-class AI module, and 4G/5G plus LoRaWAN communications. Power comes from a flexible CIGS thin-film wrap around the pole body and a battery bank in the 5–20 kWh class, sized for each project.

On a campus, many incidents happen where fixed cameras cannot see: behind buildings, along service roads and inside landscaped areas. SKYHUB covers those gaps from the air and the ground using the same node. An event cue can send the docked drone on a short patrol route while a ground service robot inspects the zone at walking level, then returns to the pole base for wireless charging. Mission logs record routes, timing and battery state, allowing one control team to supervise many poles instead of stationing staff beside each one.

Campus and park operators also answer to students, staff, visitors and regulators who want to know what is being recorded. SKYHUB's analytics run on the pole itself and are limited to tasks such as intrusion alerts, anonymous vehicle counting, crowd-density estimation and perimeter awareness, while facial recognition and number-plate reading are not part of the specified feature set. Raw footage stays within the site's own trust domain, and the command view receives de-identified event records and device-health data. Any counter-drone response is non-lethal and must be approved by a human operator.

"A campus or a park is a shared public space, so the technology placed there has to earn people's trust," said Cinn Song, spokesperson for SOLARTODO LIMITED. "This configuration keeps the intelligence on the pole, keeps people in control of every response, and lets us design each network around the real layout of the grounds."

For early planning, SOLARTODO's reference campus layout uses about 52 nodes at roughly 35-metre spacing to cover around 1.8 km of paths and perimeter, subject to radio, aviation, wind-load and foundation studies. Every unit is engineered to order and can be supplied FOB, CIF or as a full EPC turnkey project, with SINOSURE export-credit insurance available for larger programmes. The company recommends starting with a single pilot pole before expanding to a district or phased rollout. Quotations follow a site review.
