  • (1888PressRelease) January 30, 2014 - Calabash, N. C. - According to data released on January 28, 2014, by Dr. Michael C. Jensen, Managing Director of Social Science Electronic Publishing, Inc., articles by regional economist Thomas Vass were downloaded 1021 times in 2013, placing him in the top 1.1% of all authors on the SSRN platform.

The Social Science Research Network (SSRN.com), is the world's #1 Open Access Repository for scholarly articles (http://repositories.webometrics.info/toprep.asp), used by 244,557 authors.

From the inception of SSRN, all of Vass' articles have been downloaded over 5,000 times, and Vass ranks in the top 1.8% of all authors since the beginning of the SSRN platform. His archive of scholarly articles is available on his SSRN author page, at: http://ssrn.com/author=831853.

"I shifted my attention in 2013 to the topic of how accredited investor crowdfunding could contribute to regional economic growth strategy," Vass said. "Much of the increase in the number of downloads for my articles resulted from my September presentation, in Portland, at the State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI), annual convention, where I discussed this issue with their members," he added.

Vass said that he used his economic research to develop an accredited investor crowdfunding website, The Private Capital MarketŪ, that allows private technology companies to issue securities directly to accredited investors. "Part of the value of my website is that it was designed from the start to be applicable to supporting regional economic growth strategies in distinct metro regions with over 150,000 population," he explained.

Vass is the author of Predicting Technology: Identifying Future Market Opportunities and Disruptive Technologies (2007), that explains his theory of technology evolution. He is currently in the process of converting the printed edition to an ebook edition, which will be available on the BestThinking bookstore website.

He converted his theory into a method of selecting technology stocks, and is the holder of a 2007 investment method patent for managing investment accounts. He has been an independent money manager since 1988.
