Small Business Owner Earns Civic Award of Recognition

  • (1888PressRelease) June 05, 2013 - Gabriella Mammone, resident of Mississauga was honored with over 100 residents on May 7, 2013 for her outstanding contribution to the community. The annual Civic Award of Recognition has been honoring residents since 1992 for their positive contributions to the City of Mississauga.

    Gabriella relocated to Mississauga from Thompson, Manitoba in 1988. She has been involved in the community in various capacities for the last fifteen years. She is currently the Chairperson of the Mississauga MS Walk and an Ambassador for the MS Society. As an Ambassador, Gabriella speaks at many galas and fundraising events with 800+ people. Gabriella is also a committee member of golf tournaments and has participated in the Read-A-Thon campaign. Currently, she is also one of the 'faces' of the 1DayinMay campaign with the MS Society of Canada. She has been a Director on Carassauga's Board of Directors and was also the Silent Auction Chairperson for Sheridan College's Big Picture Gala. Gabriella was also a volunteer chairperson for a bi-election and has also volunteered with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, National Kids Week and other important causes.

    Gabriella was recognized for her contribution to the Mississauga community by Mayor Hazel McCallion and Members of Council. "I am so elated", says Gabriella.     Gabriella is a Managing Partner at Senso 3C a recruitment and event planning company. She is also the Owner of Occasion Giftware, an online giftware website. Gabriella is the creator and Event Director of Family Jingle & Mingle - a shared company and community Christmas celebration supporting a charity each year. Family Jingle & Mingle allows organizations to join in a large holiday party for a fraction of the cost. Gabriella was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 9 years ago and despite this disability, Gabriella is still very much focused on giving back to the community.

    She is an effective public speaker and continues to give presentations on topics relating to overcoming challenges, living with MS and the importance of positivity. She has been a mentor to schools and entrepreneurs and is always willing to lend a hand. She is also a wife and mother to a 4 year old boy.

    Gabriella continues, "Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance, but by choice. I choose to live a life that matters. Volunteering will always be in my blood."
