  • (1888PressRelease) May 28, 2019 - The Saskatchewan province released new Expression of Interest draw for Express Entry and Occupations In-demand streams for Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Programs. The immigration department of SINP focused on Express Entry and OID applicants in this current draw. The applicants who had an EOI score of 82 points in any of the EE and OID streams were invited to apply for the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. The selected candidates, however, were not required to have a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.

A total of 325 applicants were included in this draw out of which 221 candidates received an EOI under Occupation In-Demand Category and 104 candidates received EOI under Express Entry category. All the selected applicants invited under OID and Express Entry stream had an educational credential assessment done to become eligible for the EOI draw under SINP. Every occupation that is in-demand in Saskatchewan was targeted in this draw and preference was not given to only specific occupations.

Another important aspect of this EOI draw was the highest cutoff EOI score of 82 points since August 2018. Never in the Saskatchewan has history had EOI draw conducted at this high point scale. This further means that Saskatchewan is only targeting applicants who are highly skilled and qualified in their nominated occupation and are willingly ready to contribute towards the growing Saskatchewan economy.

Immigration is a key driver of population growth in the province of Saskatchewan inviting more than 108,000 newcomers from 170 countries since 2007. Talking about a total number of invitations issued by SINP so far in OID sub-category is 854 and in Express Entry sub-category are 814.

“These developments are good reminders of why it’s important to keep up-to-date on changes to provincial nominee programs,” said David Cohen, senior immigration law firm person.
