  • (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2013 - The new LCR-Reader from Siborg Systems Inc. is the newest model in the Smart Tweezers LCR-meter family. Updates to the device include a smaller body and lower weight of 1 oz. as well as a lower price.

The LCR-Reader offers users a familiar experience of using Smart Tweezers, where, just by a touch of the tweezers to a component, the device measures automatically for Inductance, Resistance or Capacitance as well as the ESR value. The new model features a lower weight of 1 oz., half that of previous models, and a lower cost to consumers, greater increasing availability to users.

All measurements are done with a basic accuracy of 1%. The first few hundred devices that were tested had variations of the 1% basic accuracy, which was remidied by each device being calibrated using the Calibration Fixture. This ensures that an accurate basic accuracy is ensured across all devices.

"We are very happy with the new device. Customer satisfaction is our main priority. Therefore we took additional measures to ensure high measurement accuracy of the LCR-Reader before we start mass production of this model. Basic accuracy of 1% was our target and eventually have been able to achieve it." says Michael Obrecht, the Director of Research and Development at Siborg Systems Inc.

With the functionality the same, LCR-Reader differs from the previous models with a weight reduction to 1 oz, half of the Smart Tweezers models, and a high-contrast LCD display. A one button navigation allows users to easily cycle through measurement modes including Automatic, L, C, R and ESR. All measurements are done with a test signal amplitude of 0.5 Vrms, and the test signal frequency is automatically selected for higher accuracy measurments.

Features found on the new model include; automatic LCR and ESR measurements, best range selection, basic accuracy of 1% and an Li-Ion battery with micro-USB charging. Some features lost between the LCR-Reader and Smart Tweezers include; automatic offset adjustment, component sorting, circuit testing and continuity and diode tests.
