  • Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) May 22, 2012 - The cocktail series at the Sunset Lounge at the Hyatt Carmel Highlands Overlooking Big Sur Coast, located at 120 Highlands Drive in Carmel, is a three-part series of hands-on workshops led by the Sunset Lounges enthusiastic and highly experienced mixologist. Each course is limited to just 24 participants, allowing for an intimate exploration of the course topics and an opportunity to craft and critique drinks.

    Classes take place at the Fireside Lounge on the upper level by the fireplace and feature snacks prepared by Pacific's Edge. Each workshop will conclude with an R&D session for a cocktail that will run at the restaurant the following week. Participants leave with a variety of take-away items, including recipe and sourcing cards--as well as produce and aromatics appropriate to the course topic.

    Second Class:
    Summer Delights. Making the Most of Summer's Best Produce and Herbs Wednesday, July 18th. The sun is shining. The market is brimming with the best local produce and herbs. Not quite sure what to do with an extra few pounds of carrots? Been wondering how to use squash for something other than roasting? In this class, participants learn how to make a number of colorful drinks using seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs, playing sweet off savory, and creatively using fresh herbs and aromatics that can be foraged or grown in an herb garden or window box. You'll be way ahead of the curve for your next cocktail party.

    The classes cost $45.00 per person for 1, $80.00 per person for the remaining 2 classes per person plus tax and gratuity.

    Warm Up With A Winter Cocktail Class Wednesday, November 7th
    Baby its cold outside. Warm up this winter with the Sunset Lounges final cocktail class of the season. Learn how to mix up some delicious winter cocktails. Attendees will learn the basics of holiday punches, mulled wines, possets, and the coveted Tom & Jerry cocktail to help you kick-start the merrymaking this holiday season.

    Background on the Sunset Lounge:
    Enjoy spectacular views of historic Point Lobos State Reserve while sipping your favorite cocktail and visiting with friends. Live entertainment is held on select nights. Open daily from 3:30 p.m.
