  • (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2013 - Scottsdale, AZ, USA - Scottsdale Country Club: We are asking you to read the following regarding a significant change to the 2013 Scottsdale Country Club Round-Up Gentlemen's Member/Guest. Following the Golf Committee meeting of last week, an idea surfaced related to the "Round-Up" that found some 'legs' and, after significant discussion with the Scottsdale Country Club Golf Committee, members of the Board of Directors and a number of at-large members alike, a recommendation was proposed and subsequently approved to move forward with revisions to the Gentlemen's Member/Guest for 2013. Why the changes to such a successful event? The intent of the revisions to the event format and itinerary is to accommodate as many Country Club Scottsdale members in the field as appropriate. A revised itinerary is attached for your viewing.

This year's Scottsdale Country Club Round-Up will include Scramble/Best Ball/Modified or like formats, with morning and afternoon 18 hole shotguns on Thursday and Friday, and 9 hole early and late morning shotguns on Saturday - each consisting of a maximum of 48 teams or 96 players. A shoot out will follow play on Saturday afternoon. This will allow an additional 24 members to participate in the event - an inclusive approach considering, with five days remaining until the entry deadline, that we have 126 signed up and hoping to be able to participate. The past Country Club Scottsdale Round-Up format of five nine-hole matches will be played during the Rodeo Gentlemen's Member-Member tournament each November.

These changes, we believe, accomplish the primary objective of allowing more Country Club Scottsdale members to participate in the Club's premier event. For those members who have signed up and still do not 'make the field', they will receive one full point in the event's points based structure. We believe this change is also important as doing so does not penalize those that made every effort to participate (as the current ½ point policy seemingly does).
Although we recognize that this is a departure from what has been done in the past, it is the overwhelming opinion of the Country Club Scottsdale Golf Committee and your Board of Director's that these changes to the Gentlemen's Member/Guest are 'the right thing to do' and in the best interest of the Club. We believe that you too will embrace these planned changes and we look forward to a bigger, better and exciting Round-Up comes April 24-27, 2013.
