Participants run along the Embarcadero and can choose to participate in the 1 mile, 1/2 mile or 100 yard dash.

"Each year, we work with hundreds of Bay Area families and provide them with essential counseling, educational programs and services, all in an effort to keep kids in the San Francisco community thriving and safe," said Katie Albright, executive director of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. "Our goal with the "Munchkin Kids Run" is to get families involved in this fun tradition, while raising awareness and support for the Center, so we can continue to provide children and families with the services and support that they need."

Pre-registration is required for the Munchkin Kids Run and the cost to participate is $25. All registrants will receive a runner's bib with their name on it, a signature medal for finishing, t-shirt, and food and drinks after the race at the Munchkin Festival. All proceeds from the event will benefit child abuse prevention programs at the SFCAPC.

Those who can't partake in the festivities are encouraged to lend their support by sponsoring a team of 15 children from the Prevention Center to run in the race. By making a $2,000 tax deductible donation, sponsors will receive a booth at the Munchkin Kids Run finish line for distribution of product or materials, a company logo on munchkin t-shirts and on the Prevention Center's webpage, as well as four VIP passes for the official Marathon Reception on race day. All runners are also invited and encouraged to raise money for the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. About the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center
For almost 40 years, the programs of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center have served the community's most vulnerable Bay Area children and families. The San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, the promotion of healthy families and the mental health of children. With direct crisis and intervention programs designed to reduce parental stress, enhance parenting skills and provide comprehensive services for families in need, we provide open-ended support and help families break the cycle of violence. As one of the most comprehensive services providers in San Francisco, we also offer education, training programs and public advocacy for child abuse prevention.
