  • (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2011 - Crystal River, FL - When Complete General Construction, an Ohio-based company specializing in highway construction, needed a Roller Compacted Concrete ( http://www.GulfAtlanticEquipment.com ) Plant, they wasted no time. They reached out to consult with Gulf Atlantic Industrial Equipment, an industry expert in matching equipment to application, to discuss the best Roller Compacted Concrete plant for their application.

And Gulf Atlantic did not disappoint. They had just the right solution for the large RCC Mix Project such as Complete General had secured.

"The Ohio Turnpike Pavement is being systematically replaced in 48 five-mile long sections. And Complete General Construction needed to find a plant design that would provide them with the stability and cost savings that are needed on a project of this magnitude." said Stan Moore, President and founder of Gulf Atlantic Equipment. Stan continued "We congratulate Dick Googan, VP of Complete General Construction on the purchase of their new Rapid Mix 400 continuous mixing Roller Compacted Concrete Plant."

Gulf Atlantic Industrial Equipment delivered a completely self-erecting RCC Plant, the Rapid Mix 400C. The Rapid Mix 400C Mobile RCC Plant delivered to Complete General Construction was ready for operation in about 30 minutes from arrival on site.

Roller-compacted concrete, or RCC, has characteristics similar to concrete, and less expensive than asphalt. It has been shown to be tough in the harshest conditions, fast to apply, and economical for taxpayers and project developers. It shares the same basic ingredients as traditional concrete: cement, water, and aggregates, but instead of being transferred to a project in mixer trucks, it is mixed on site via the pugmill twin shaft mixer located on the portable Rapid Mix 400C plant and discharged to dump trucks for delivery to the site where it is placed, using a specialized paver with a vibratory screed and compacted with vibratory rollers. On a first cost basis, RCC can be less expensive than asphalt and due to its strength and durability, its maintenance costs over the lifetime of the pavement are substantially reduced providing long serviceability with minimal maintenance.
