  • Manchester-Nashua, NH (1888PressRelease) June 06, 2016 - Riot Labs, LLC is a consumer electronics startup, forged in the mountains of New Hampshire by millennial husband and wife duo, Ken and Alison McLoud. They plan to use Kickstarter to presell and fund the initial production run of their inaugural product, the Solidus.

The Solidus is a WiFi enabled device that fits in the palm of your hand and will notify you if the temperatures you care about most are getting out of line. There are no subscription fees and MSRP is $50.

In the aftermath of an accidentally thawed chest freezer, the couple resolved to prevent such a catastrophe from recurring. "We were sure we would be able to find something that could send notifications to our phones based on temperature" said Alison "but all the notification systems we found required subscription fees".

Seeing this need wasn't filled, Ken and Alison founded Riot Laboratories LLC. Their first product is called the Solidus, a scientific term for the temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid. The Solidus is configured using any smartphone in less than a minute. Users receive a text message or email alert based on temperature and are also notified if the device loses power or internet connection.

"Riot Lab's supporters and early beta testers have seen the Solidus as a good solution for a
number of problems" Ken reported "Many of which we had never envisioned." Northern homeowners can use the product to alert them when vulnerable pipes are close to freezing. Gardeners can ensure their greenhouses neither overheat in the summer, nor allow delicate plants to freeze on cold spring evenings. Folks with cabins, camps, rental properties or other unattended buildings can stop worrying about undetected furnace or electrical failures. The homebrewing community is even excited about the opportunity to more tightly control the fermentation temperatures of their brews.

Kickstarter campaigns run on a "allornothing" model. So if Riot Labs is unable to raise $25,000 by preselling this innovative product, it will never make it to market. Please consider contributing to help get this American tech startup off the ground today.
