    Event Synopsis:
Based on Supreme Court rulings in 1968 and 1992, sales tax can be collected on online purchases if the seller has a “physical presence” in the state. However, this decision has been reversed in the South Dakota v. Wayfair case. On June 21, 2018, the Supreme Court decided that online sellers can now be required by the state to pay sales tax.
