  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2013 - Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc. (AACSR) dba NY Abandoned Angels Rescue (NYAAR), a Queens-based non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Cocker Spaniels and other dog breeds in need of loving forever homes, has partnered with Rescue Chocolate to help raise awareness and funds. Between October 1st and October 31st, Rescue Chocolate, a Brooklyn, NY-based company that sells vegan, organic, fairly traded, and certified Kosher chocolate packed in eco-friendly materials will donate 100% of its net profits to Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue. The money raised throughout the month will help pay for the veterinary care of nine Cocker Spaniels that the organization rescued last week as well as the 40 other dogs currently in the rescue's care.

"Several dogs in our rescue are waiting for medical procedures including spay and neuter surgeries, dentals, glaucoma treatments, mammary tumor removals, and cataract surgeries, so we're thrilled about Rescue Chocolate's incredible generosity this month," said Dolores Rodrigues, founder, Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc. "The money raised in this month-long sale will also help pay for our other vital needs including dog food and flea and heartworm preventative."

Rescue Chocolate's flavors have unique names associated with the world of animal rescue including Foster-iffic Peppermint (to encourage fostering a homeless animal), Pick Me! Pepper (urging the public to adopt rather than buy their pets), Peanut Butter Pit Bull (to bring awareness to the misunderstood breed), The Fix (emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering), and Mission Feral Fig (highlighting the humane management of feral cat colonies). In addition to donating 100% of the net profits generated from the sale, Rescue Chocolate will also promote Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc.'s mission through various traditional and social media channels.

"It's an honor to partner with Abandoned Angels because not only do we value their work but they are also based here in New York City," said Sarah Gross, owner of Rescue Chocolate. "By selling delicious, handmade chocolate, we can help raise much needed funds for worthy organizations like theirs plus raise awareness about the animal overpopulation epidemic."

The chocolate company selects a different animal rescue organization to receive its profits each month. Past beneficiaries have included PACT for Animals, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, The Sato Project, and Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue. Although proceeds benefit animals, the chocolate is for human consumption only.

The chocolate benefiting Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue is currently available for sale on www.RescueChocolate.com from October 1st thru October 31st. In addition to chocolate, Rescue Chocolate also sells Beyond Bars (nut and fruit bars), t-shirts, gift certificates, gift boxes, leashes, and books about animal care.
