  • (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2013 - DENVER, Colo. - Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with dance pop singer Maxine Thomas to discuss her newly released album, An American Dream Compilation. I discovered that not only does she have a track on that album about the history of cannabis use in America, but cannabis has played an integral role in her creativity as a musician.

Maxine smiles as she tells me how she enjoys the ritual of rolling up a premium joint moments before she engages in a writing session. It only takes one or two puffs to put her in the mind frame where she writes and composes her catchy pop tunes. "Marijuana helps me in my creative writing process. Sometimes it helps me find the melody or the lyrics! It opens this part of my mind and heart that allows me to tap into my inner-self without having to hold back."

Until recently, Maxine has only written songs about love and having fun. "I've decided to break away a little and start writing songs about freedom and weed. It really makes sense now since it became legal in Colorado. I want to embrace this time in history and enjoy every aspect of its journey and how it will affect our society. I heard that we are a debt free state because of it, and I want to spread as much of the truth as possible."

Maxine explains that she wants to spread the history of cannabis hemp and let her fans know that she is part of the "Legalize Marijuana Movement." Her song "American Dream" was written and inspired by the book The Emperor Wears No Clothes: The Authoritative Historical Record of Cannabis and the Conspiracy Against Marijuana by Jack Herer. She encourages everyone to learn their facts! Maxine says, "I hope that I can inspire others to learn more about the history of cannabis hemp through my music and songwriting! Weed is not just a past time, it's part of our American history!"

Originally from San Diego, Maxine has traveled throughout Europe during her childhood but made Colorado her home in 1996. She began writing songs at the young age of five and began professionally recording in 1999. Fresh out of high school, she started her own Mobile Disc Jockey service. After making connections in her local town of Colorado Springs, she spread out her songwriting skills throughout Denver and Boulder. "I love writing hooks and verses for upcoming artists and rappers! I'll write for anyone because I believe in the power of music!" Maxine also believes in the power of freedom and the therapeutic properties of "Medicinal Marijuana."

"American Dream" can be downloaded from Amazon.com, iTunes, or streamed from Spotify. For more information visit: , or contact Mr. David L. Ulery, owner of Tornadic Entertainment, LLC at (719) 271-7000.
