  • (1888PressRelease) September 11, 2011 - Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art in New Hope, PA, will open a major exhibition of recent works by contemporary abstract artist Jeanne Bessette.
titled "Figuratively Speaking". The artist's reception will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 4 - 6 p.m.

The event will also feature a lively painting demonstration on Saturday afternoon between 2 - 4 pm. The show runs through October 31.

Raleigh, NC native Jeanne Bessette is best known for her large scale paintings of emotive abstracted figures that combine subtle layers, luminescent glaze and bold freehand scribbles. What's most striking is her ability to harness a childhood vision and translate it into a mature concept. Her use of pungent color and contrast creates memorable pieces that allow for unique experiences upon every viewing.

"I always have an intention in mind or a message to share. My work usually erupts in spontaneous bursts of energy. Embracing my fearless side has allowed me to become more adventurous and intuitive. When you see my work, you'll learn something about the journey I took in creating it" Bessette explains.

Bessette's works in this show expands upon her journey that explores the emotions of our everyday landscape from the quirky to the ridiculous.

"We are all of these and we need to lighten up on ourselves" says Bessette and she further describes her philosophy by sharing "I'm compelled to paint the wild and mysterious circus of our passions and fears." Her current works have evolved from her pure abstracts which, she says, provide "the "homes" and landscape in which her figures live and breathe. According to Bucks County Gallery owner and director Howard Cooperman, "Bessette's process reveals itself in layers of complicated emotions, childlike wonder and limpid transparency. Her works are vibrant, glowing and seemingly alive."

Cooperman describes the 20 plus canvas pieces in the show as "powerful, playful and must-haves. She shares all of herself and holds nothing back. She's prolific, to be sure - with growing interest in her work nationally."

"If you've ever kicked yourself for missing an artist on the upswing before they achieve national prominence, take advantage of this opportunity to meet Jeanne Bessette now," Cooperman advised.

Join us for a cocktail reception featuring Jeanne's most recent paintings and meet her on October 1st between 2 & 6pm and watch as she completes a painting live before your eyes. The attached image is a 30" x 30" acrylic painting titled "Worry Wart" and will be available on a first come basis.
