  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) January 05, 2013 - Remington College is encouraging people looking for ways to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service this month to consider donating blood.

Blood is in great demand in January, as busy schedules, illness and weather can all be factors in keeping people from donating blood.

"Donating blood is one of the few ways to give back to your community in a way that saves lives," said AJ Green, spokesperson for the 3 Lives campaign.

Remington College will be kicking off its 2013 3 Lives campaign in January. 3 Lives is an effort to increase the number of minority blood donors, conducted in partnership with America's Blood Centers and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA).

Green, a professional singer, knows firsthand the important role that minority blood donors play - he has sickle cell disease and receives regular transfusions as part of his treatment.

More than 8,000 pints of blood have been collected on Remington College campuses since the 3 Lives program began in 2010.

Every Remington College campus will hold multiple blood drives in 2013 and the public is encouraged to donate blood at these events. All blood collected will be used to help patients in the local community.
