  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2014 - The singer and virtuoso pianist recently signed a deal with Star 1 Records, an innovative new record label with Universal Music Group distribution. EMIKO caught the attention of Star 1 company head Laura Patterson after the release of her summer single and music video "This Is Me." The video captures a romantic chase through Los Angeles, sparked by a "love at first sight" encounter. "I wrote 'This Is Me' to capture those feelings we all have at the very beginning of a relationship - maybe even before we know it's going to become a relationship. Just right at the moment when you realize you're utterly and completely falling for someone," says EMIKO.

Star 1 Records has recently forged a new partnership with the media giant Viacom and their subsidiaries. As a result, "This Is Me" is now a featured music video on Viacom.tv and MTV.com. EMIKO says, "When I saw my video up on the Viacom.tv page with the 'MTV artist' logo on my face, it was officially knee-buckling, tongue-tingly awesome!"

By the age of 12, EMIKO had already retired from classical music to begin making her mark in pop music. Having played piano since she was two and half, EMIKO transitioned from a classical piano prodigy to a rock 'n' roll starlet. As an award winning songwriter, her credits include SONY/ATV, Famous Records/Universal Music Group, and a myriad of licenses to film and TV all over the world.

"This Is Me" is the first music video off EMIKO's recently released album "Moving The Universe Part 1." The album chronicles a whirlwind of events in EMIKO's life and a newfound romance that took her from NYC, to Tokyo, to London, and back to the Big Apple.

Keyboard Magazine recently wrote in their NAMM issue, "Invoking Billy Preston as much as Billy Joel. Emiko is someone we expect to hear a lot more from in the coming months."
