  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2012 - Thousands of poor, elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners across South Florida are forced to live in unimaginable conditions because they simply cannot afford to repair necessary items to make their homes safe and sanitary. Many of these impoverished neighbors are unaware that there is an agency called Rebuilding Together that will help to make their homes safe, sanitary and livable.

Rebuilding Together Broward County,(RTBC) is a local chapter of a nationwide nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the homes of very low income elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners. RBTC volunteers perform urgent repairs and improvements to homes to make them safe and livable for their needy inhabitants.

On October 6, 2012, the South Florida community has an opportunity to help RTBC reach many more impoverished home owners, when they hold their annual fundraiser and family festival at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds in Dave from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

The Rebuilding Together Olympiad and Family Festival is a day of fun for all ages, that offers plenty of activities for children, while corporate teams compete in the Olympiad for a coveted "Golden Hard Hat" prize by obtaining the highest scores in a series of outrageously funny events like the "Toilet Toss," and "Material Monument Madness."

This year, highlights for the children will be a Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic, a Bounce House, Face Painting, a Petting Zoo, a Pie Eating Contest, and appearances from special guests, like "Bob the Rebuilder."  Admission is $5 or free for kids under 12 with a canned good donation for Broward Pantry. The opening ceremony for the Olympiad will begin at 11:00am and the Family Festival will run from 11:00am until 4:00pm.

"I'm very excited about being part of the Rebuilding Together Olympiad & Family Festival again this year. This event is not a typical fundraiser like a golf event or gala - it's unique and brings together the entire community. And even someone without a construction background can get involved, network and have fun - all for a great cause." says Allan Weiss, event chair. "It is an afternoon of entertainment for friends, colleagues, and the whole family and a great way to bring the company together, " he continues.

Sponsorships at several levels are now available for the Rebuilding Together Olympiad and Family Festival. Potential sponsors, donors and those interested in taking part in the event are asked to contact Sandra Veszi Einhorn, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Broward County, at 954-772-9945 or visit the web site at www.RebuildingTogetherBroward.org.
