About the Book (Excerpts & Info)
    "Are you interested?"
    "In what?"
    "Ordering a wife?"
"No. Never. That's not the way I want to meet a nice young lady. Besides, I'm choosy. I'd want a girl just like my Mum. A sense of humor, loving and kind."
"Don't be too hard on those girls, Robert. I've read where there are many young women living in the eastern part of the United States that need to find a husband. Life is challenging for so many of their unemployed fathers who are unable to feed their family. So, the father is forced to marry off his daughter. She is usually the eldest girl who looks for a husband who will pay her railroad fare to wherever he lives - and then marries him. Besides that, they are supposed to be good Christian girls."
"Well, the Lord would have to hit me over the head with a board if He wants me to order a wife out of a catalog. My Mum always told me that the best place to find a wife is in church."
    "Have you found one there?"
"No. Not yet. Seems to be just married people there. But...umm...someone will come along. Until then, I'll wait."

In an era of universal despair in Ireland and pioneering growth in Canada, the two environments meld a place in time and circumstance for two families as they follow God's leadings into unknown territories, survived solely by and through their faith. In this slice of Life, a reader senses the strong pull of family, an atmosphere of moral choice and family duty, and the struggles of heartfelt characters.

Nicolet has given readers a means of being empathetic and experiencing life along with the characters as if they were friends throughout the good times and the bad. A delightful read which makes it difficult to put the book down without knowing what happens next.
