    The Green Key eco-rating system raises the awareness of leisure industry staff and clients in using sustainable methods of operation and technology and to run environmentally-aware businesses.

    Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis succeeded by empowering staff to take responsibility for the program and in also educating clients and suppliers on 'green' issues.

    The World Tourism Organization stated that 'ecotourism' is the fastest-growing sector of the industry and that over two third of American and Australian tourists, and 90% of British tourists, "consider active protection of the environment and support of local communities to be part of a hotel's responsibility."
