Rabits & Romano Architecture selected to design new school in Lake Nona
Firm will work on 18,000-square-foot Montessori school opening next year.
- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2016 - The Montessori School of Lake Nona will be a brand new, state-of-the-art facility to build on the success of the Montessori School of Orlando.
Rabits & Romano will design the school for approximately 300 students from infants to higher elementary. The project is being designed with the idea of bringing the outside into the classroom, with close connections between indoor and outdoor environments and all classrooms adjoining the main courtyard. The school is designed to promote interactions among children from different grades and adults. Open spaces are designed for free movement, while little niches will provide perfect spaces for small groups or individual learning.

Timothy Garito of Garito & Company has been selected to handle the site selection and development for the Montessori School's expansion into Lake Nona.

Montessori schools center on the Montessori Method of education, which was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The program brings together multiage groups of children, and they learn through uninterrupted blocks of work time and guided choice of work activity. Specially designed Montessori learning materials are also arranged and available in an aesthetically pleasing environment.
There are more than 4,000 American Montessori schools, and Montessori schools can be found on six continents.
