  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2011 - Auburndale, Florida-based Chemclad is a manufacturer of laminated panels and component parts for businesses throughout the Southeast.

The QuickBeam Chemclad system uses 152 photovoltaic modules to convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. DC electricity produced by the solar panels is then converted into the common form of electricity-alternating current (AC)-by using a bank of inverters. AC electricity generated by QuickBeam's system is used to power Chemclad directly, with excess fed back to Tampa Electric's utility grid, Chemclad's primary energy provider. The system will provide for over half of Chemclad's energy needs, therefore dramatically cutting their utility bills.

"Our manufacturing facility's electricity usage is substantial, and it negatively impacts our margins," stated Rob Whatley, President of Chemclad. "QuickBeam's solar electricity system began providing positive returns in the first month of usage. In addition to ongoing energy savings, we anticipate the system paying for itself within four years." Chemclad will be able to take advantage of generous federal incentives including tax credits and a U.S. Treasury cash grant.

"Chemclad's flat-roofed building with no shading provided an ideal installation environment," commented Max Wilson, Vice President of Engineering for QuickBeam. "We were able to install the system on their roof without the need for penetrations of any kind, thus minimizing the impact on their building envelope. The system reduces their monthly electricity costs, while increasing the value of their property."
