  • (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2011 - Quest CE, premier provider of continuing education and compliance training, has filed a course to meet the newly proposed Ohio Annuity Training Requirement. Resident and non-resident producers licensed to sell, solicit or negotiate annuities, prior to the effective date, must complete a one-time four (4) hour Annuity Training course within six (6) months of the effective date. Once approved, producers can immediately begin taking the course to remain compliant.

Carriers are also responsible for providing product-specific training. Additionally, if a producer acquires a life insurance license on or after the effective date, the training must be completed prior to selling, soliciting or negotiating annuity products.

The State of Ohio has adopted the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transaction Model Regulation recommendation. This Model Regulation was adopted to set standards and procedures for suitable annuity recommendations and to require insurers to establish a system to supervise recommendations so that the insurance needs and financial objectives of consumers are appropriately addressed. The Ohio rule will be effective on July 1, 2011.

Ohio producers are required to complete twenty-four (24) hours of CE, every two (2) years, three (3) of which must be ethics credits. This course will be available for resident CE credit.

Quest CE's Ohio annuity course will relatively reflect the following topics:

    • a complete basic understanding of annuities

    • examples, references and citations that illuminate complex points of annuities

    • comprehensive text with cohesive narrative explanation

    • the importance of annuities and how it benefits the consumer

    • obstacles and relevant solutions associated with annuities as they relate to seniors

Quest CE has filed a course to meet the requirement and expects State DOI approval in the next few weeks.
