  • (1888PressRelease) November 04, 2011 - Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) signed a strategic partnership agreement with Intel to engage the Jordanian youth in the social and economic developmental process, stimulating young entrepreneurs to work on practical solutions tackling the problem of unemployment.

As per the agreement, QRCE inaugurated the "Meeting the Challenge of Youth Unemployment in Jordan" competition under Intel Youth Enterprise, accepting applications from all cities within the Kingdom, until 10th of November. The qualifying applications will participate in several workshops on entrepreneurship and using technology to solve social problems, supervised by a host of leading experts.

After the end of the training phase, the panel will pick 10 projects to qualify for the final stage and compete on the first prize. The impact and outcome of these projects will be tested via collaboration with local NGOs, to assess their ability to meet the challenges of unemployment - one of the most serious problems in the third millennia.

"This competition falls within Intel's programs for developing entrepreneurship, aiming at enabling the youth to overcome their social and economic problems, by giving young innovators and entrepreneurs the chance to develop their capabilities and execute their projects, which, in itself, will create new job opportunities for them and others," said Rula Habash, Intel Corporate Affairs Manager for Levant and North Africa.

"Entrepreneurship is necessary for supporting any growing economy, for its ability to create new valuable jobs. It is one of the most important pillars of sustainable economic development in Jordan, and that is what we are trying to prove by virtue of our program with our partners, QRCE and other NGOs," she added.

On his side, Executive Director at QRCE, Farhan Kalaldeh welcomed this strategic partnership with a global technology leading company. "We value Intel's efforts to support entrepreneurial programs locally and regionally, and their dedication in putting forth an initiative aiming at motivating the youth to free their minds and unleash their capabilities to serve their community," he said.

Kalaldeh praised the competition's goals, stating that it has the potential to meet the challenges unemployment poses on Jordan, especially after the several, subsequent financial crisis the world is going through.
