  • (1888PressRelease) March 07, 2012 - Norcross, GA - ProSys Information Systems, a provider of customized IT solutions backed by engineering expertise and best-in-class products, announced today that it is among the first companies to introduce the latest line of server processors from Intel. ProSys has been selected to help launch the versatile new Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600/1600 product families, designed to meet the diverse and demanding needs of today's computing environments.

"Throughout the years, Intel processors have been integral to many of ProSys' solutions. This new family of Intel server processors will enable ProSys to drive greater value for our clients by reducing data center cost and complexity, and by employing automation to improve service, efficiency, and agility," said Matt Merriman, Vice President of Professional Services at ProSys. "We plan to feature the technology in our regional ProCenter Customer Experience briefing and demonstration centers."

With its ProCenters, ProSys has made a multi-million dollar investment in a state of the art customer education, demo and proof of concept center facility featuring an ecosystem of servers, storage and networking hardware and software products. The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families meet the rigorous demands of this complex environment.

High Performance for Cloud Computing Demands
In demanding environments such as cloud computing, the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families1 deliver an optimum combination of performance, built-in capabilities, and cost-effectiveness. These processors are designed to meet evolving data center needs with up to 80 percent higher performance2 over earlier processor generations, as well as improved energy efficiency, offering more cores, more cache, and increased memory capacity.

"We're proud of our vanguard position in bringing the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families to market, because this line of server processors represents tremendous potential for businesses of all sizes to increase their competitiveness," said Lisa Robb, Vice President of Marketing at ProSys. "Customer interest has been strong in anticipation of this launch, so on March 6th, we launched a series of customer events and 1x1 briefings to satisfy it."

    Built for Speed
The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families feature second-generation Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.05, which delivers more speed when it's needed for peak workloads. Another performance-enhancement feature, Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX), can double performance6 in applications employing floating point or vector computations. To keep processor cores most productive, Intel® Data Direct I/O Technology enables direct data transfers from storage to cache, instantly moving data to wherever it is needed and increasing I/O performance by up to 2.3 times7.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families derive more performance value from every watt using an enhanced Intel® Intelligent Power Technology8 for optimum balance between performance and energy consumption. And, the Intel® Data Center Manager plugs into existing management frameworks so that IT staff can monitor and manage power and thermal status for individual or multiple servers.

    Solid Security Foundation
To reinforce security, Intel based its new server processors on a solid foundation of encryption standards, trusted resources and standards-based protocols for protecting systems and sensitive data on shared infrastructure. To extend security across the network without significantly compromising performance, Intel® Advanced Encryption Standard - New Instructions (Intel® AES-NI)9 accelerates and strengthens encryption to protect all users and assets.

The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 product families employ Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT)10 to establish trusted pools of resources so that computing environments are better able to protect themselves from malware or other attacks at or before launch.

1 Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. See www.intel.com/products/processor_number for details.

2 Source: Performance comparison using SPECfp*_rate_base2006 benchmark. Baseline score of 267 on prior generation 2S Intel® Xeon® processor X5690 (3.46 GHz, 6 core, 12MB L3, 6.4 GT/s, 130W) based platform is based on best published score to www.spec.org as of 6 September 2011. For more details, see: http://www.spec.org/cpu2006/results/res2011q1/cpu2006-20110131-14172.html. New score of 486 on 2S Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2690 (2.90 GHz, 8 core, 20MB L3, 8.0 GT/s, 135W) based platform is based on Intel internal measured estimates as of 6 September 2011 using an Intel® Rose City platform with two Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2690, Turbo Enabled, EIST Enabled, Hyper-Threading Enabled, 64 GB memory (8 x 8GB DDR3-1600), Red Hat* Enterprise Linux Server 6.1 beta for x86_6, Intel® Compiler 12.1.

3 Source: The claim of up to 30% reduction in I/O latency is based on Intel internal measurements of the average time for an I/O device read to local system memory under idle conditions for the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family versus the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.

4 Source: The PCIe 3.0 specification supports up to 8 GT/s and 128b/130b encoding which is estimated to double interconnect bandwidth versus the PCIe 2.0 specification.

5 Intel® Turbo Boost Technology requires a platform with a processor with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology capability. Intel® Turbo Boost Technology performance varies depending on hardware, software and overall system configuration. Check with your platform manufacturer on whether your system delivers Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. For more information, see http://www.intel.com/technology/turboboost.

6 Source: The Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family supports Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX), which increases maximum vector size from 128 to 256 bits, so up to twice the work can be accomplished per clock cycle during floating point and vector operations versus the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.
