  • (1888PressRelease) June 02, 2011 - Promocodes.co.uk, a UK voucher code website, is on track to generate £1 million plus turnover in its first full year of trading, after the recent Google update saw it rank in the top 10 daily deals site in the UK.

The 'Panda' update evaluated the search engine's highly ranked websites and demoted those ones which re-used content from other sites. As a result of the update, Promocodes now ranks ninth out of over 100 discount code sites and traffic increased by more than 200 per cent overnight.

The website is now attracting over 10,000 users a day, generating monthly revenues of £80,000 plus and is consistently expanding by 20 per cent month-on-month.

Established in October 2010, Promocodes has seen strong growth since inception and offers consumers hundreds of discounts from high street retailers and top brands, including Easyjet, Vodafone and Marks and Spencer.

Alex Attinger, a 28 year old entrepreneur originally from Dorset, set up Promocodes after working in newspaper advertising and seeing spend on traditional media in decline.

Based in Bath, the company employs four members of full-time staff and a team of 12 students, which Alex believes to be the key to his success.

"On the internet content is king and websites which were full of farmed copy were the ones which suffered during the Google 'Panda' update," said Alex.

"Our team of students are intrinsic in keeping our site up-to-date and full of fresh news and authoritative content. This ensures Promocodes stays at the top of the search listings.

"Around 99 per cent of people will stop browsing past the second page of results on Google so it can make or break a business depending on where you're placed.

"The Panda update saw some high-profile websites drop down the Google rankings, which was a real eye opener for every company which relies on a website for lead-generation. The importance of a decent, well-thought out SEO strategy and high-quality, dynamic content should be paramount for all businesses wishing to capitalise on the constantly evolving world of technology."

Online daily discounts are a growing industry and the current worldwide market leaders Groupon, was recently in discussions with bankers about an IPO worth $25 billion.

"Over the past couple of years, voucher codes websites have exploded in popularity and as consumers continue to tighten their purse strings, everyone is looking for a deal," Alex added.

"People are increasingly keen to monetise the internet and a voucher codes site is an ideal way to do this, as start-up costs are relatively low. However, to be successful in this saturated industry, it is essential to make a significant upfront investment to ensure you stand out from the crowd.

"This is exactly what we have done at Promocodes and we are confident the business will continue to go from strength to strength as the market continues to grow."
