Impressed by this impactful mission, the PROLIM employees were touched to experience such an amazingly systematic and selfless endeavor to serve the underprivileged children.
Initially believing this to be a small operation, we were amazed to see such a large operation serving almost 1.8 lakh children every day.
A volunteer from Akshaya Patra gave us a warm welcome at the reception, where we were given introductions and instructions about Akshaya Patra. We were requested to wear the special footwear and head caps before entering the kitchen. This made us understand that there is absolutely no compromise on the quality of food being give en to the children.
We were amazed to learn how Akshaya Patra has brought a new meaning to the concept of a community kitchen. A detailed explanation was provided by the volunteer of each departments and process like:
* Stores of all the grains and vegetable
* The rice cleaning machine that ensures no stone, or dirt enters the cooker
* Rice, Grain and Vegetable cutting cleaning area (Great cleaning system)
* A hefty de-freezer that stores the vegetable
* Large cookers to cook the Rice and Sambar
* Different types of modernized machines for cooking
* Discharge and utensil cleaning area of food
* Organic fuel generation machine
