  • (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2012 - The site is dedicated to every aspect of commercial gym equipment, said Ross Baldwin, Commercial Director at ProGymEquipment. The website, http://www.progymequipment.co.uk, will act like a consultancy service to help the growing number of people inspired to open their own gym but unsure how to proceed.

It will help clients design their dream gym, find the right equipment at the right price to fill it and help with the installation of that equipment. It will also provide on-going support for the entirety of the gym's existence, he added.

"We want it to be more than just a website for commercial gym equipment," Baldwin said. "We want this to be an industry resource. More and more people want to start working for themselves and many of them dream of opening their own gym - especially with the Olympics right around the corner. We want to help them realise that dream by providing whatever support they require."

The Olympics is generating renewed interest in fitness, exercise and sport. And that renewed interest means more and more people are interested in the commercial gym sector, said Baldwin.

"Many fitness enthusiasts want to take advantage of the potential interest, get out of the rat race and start their own business," he added.

As well as the Olympics generating consumer interest in gyms, the health of the gym and leisure industry means banks are willing to lend, said Baldwin. "They understand money can be made in the sector."

According to market intelligence research firm, Mintel, turnover for UK gyms has increased by about 10% between 2006 and 2010. It has also predicted that it will continue to grow over the next five years by around two to three per cent year-on-year.

Baldwin explained: "The combination of all-time low interest rates, banks willing to give entrepreneurs loans to cover commercial gym equipment and consumer interest in fitness being generated by the Olympics means it is the perfect time for people to take the leap and set a gym up.

"But it remains a pipe dream because they don't know how to go about it. That is where ProGymEquipment comes in. It has the knowledge and resources to help with commercial gym design from research to buying the right commercial gym equipment."

In order to get financing from a bank, an independent commercial gym operator is going to need more than a great gym design. They're going to need a solidly researched business plan with the figures and demographics backing it up, Baldwin said.

ProGymEquipment can take new operators through the process from the first step. It can show potential owners what research needs to be done, such as location and the demographics of potential clients. ProGymEquipment can then help to plan a gym design that best fits those needs.

New operators will need to consider what commercial gym equipment will be required, how to make the best use of space and how to organise the equipment in that space, said Baldwin. For example, is a gym design based around equipment type, body part or fitness level best suited to the potential clients? This is where ProGymEquipment's expertise can really help, Baldwin added. "Working out the ratios of bikes to treadmills or strength machines to free-weights is what we do best!"

The UK based site will offer sales and support in Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and the United States.
